SIEMENS Mamomat VR Experience
SIEMENS Healthineers needed a way to lower anxiety in female patients when experiencing a Mammomat exam, as well as providing a digital sales tool for clients interested in acquiring this Machine. In conjunction with Knowledge Anywhere, our job was to create a VR Mobile App to help SIEMENS showcase the Mammomat experience to clients and their patients.
The Challenge
Knowledge Anywhere is SIEMENS' e-Learning Partner, providing innovative solutions along the e-learning front (LMS platform, Course development, and LCDS, among other services). In this case, KA was looking for a mobile app to help SIEMENS Healthineers showcase their latest Mammomat equipment to interested clients and create a VR experience for patients before their Mammomat exam.
Showcasing such a complex machine to clients and patients is a considerable challenge. Virtual Reality was the right way to help with the best possible experience of how the equipment works and how an actual exam would look.
Our Solution
After analyzing the project, our team decided that the best way to create a fully immersive experience would be to create a VR Tour at a real hospital with a Mammomat device installed. The technology chosen to develop this experience was Unity.
VLAB sent a 360 photo shooting team to get high-quality images of the whole experience, from the entrance hall to the Mammomat room. Images were stitched to create fully spheric 360 images.
The pano pictures linked through portals and knowledge points were added along with the patch, containing helpful information in audio, image, and video format.
The app was distributed internally to the SIEMENS team for both iOS and Android devices.
SIEMENS was our second development with Virtual Lab. It wasn't an easy project but they managed to make it straightforward with outstanding results.
